the next book i just ordered from Amazon is called the Glass Room...about a wealthy german couple who build an amazing house and have to flee the Nazi Germany and leave it behind, the house really stands in Germany, but the story is fiction..my husband and I used to live in Europe and I would read historical books about the places we went..this reminds me of those times, before we had kids! :)

The Help by Kathryn Stockett for a book club! I can't put it down. -stng04@gmail.com
I'm looking forward to reading Elizabeth Gilbert's new book Committed. After reading her Eat, Pray, Love I am curious to find out more about the fellow she gave her heart to after all the drama about her first marriage. I had this wonderful image of the lucky fellow when reading the book and then saw a You Tube piece with them and had to laugh. he seems very lovely, but I realized how much I had inflated him in my mind. Ah, reality. jeansheff@optonline.net
my book club is reading Both Ways is the Only Way I want It by Maile Meloy Its short stories havent started it yet But the first short story book we read was Olive Kittridge by Elizabeth Strout really a great read. Olive turns up some way in each story all set in the same midwestern(?) town.Very clever and insightful. If you havent tried short stories -none of us really had-give this one a try. Lynn
I have just begun reading Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell. After a long run of fiction, it is refreshing to read non-fiction genre. This book deconstructs some surprising and extremely thought provoking patterns that occur with people who have met with success in their lives (i.e. Bill Gates). It is a fascinating study of human behavior combined with being in the "right place at the right time". I don't think there is anyone who won't pull something from this book!
I'm anxious to read "In a Cheesemaker's Kitchen" by Allison Hooper, co-founder of the Vermont Butter and Cheese Company and one of the very first people to produce goat cheese in the United States. I doubt I'll tackle making cheese in the near future, but I can dream! Should be a nice break from my favorite murder mysteries!

I would have to say that the next book on my never-ending list would be Mitch Albom's new one. "Have a little faith" I've been reading his thought provoking books over and over again for years. My grandmother will buy it as a coffee table ornament, and i will end up reading it. His past books "Five people you meet in heaven" "For one more day" and "Tuesday's with Morrie" are definatly my go-to books.
I am excited to read Wuthering Heights outloud to my daughter who is turning 9 next week. This is my fathers favorite book and I was named me kathryn after the main character. When I was 9-years-old my dad read me a chapter every night. I remember looking forward to going to bed for the next installment. It is now my favorite book and I hope may daughter will also love this beautifully written classic.

MY DREAM OF YOU by Nuala O'Faolain,
a book that has such powerful images it makes me want to get writing! An "illicit" affair at the time of the Irish Potato Famine and the woman who leaves a successful travel-writing career in her 50's to write about it.
Brings Ireland and relationships to life; a quest for sensuality!
This is not my most intelligent choice, but......my next read is "Are You There, Vodka?" I need a little lightness in my life right now, and that title just cracked me up. Of course I will be burrowing this book in between some other papers as I commute on the train, but why not give oneself a little pleasure, right. All those other people reading Jane Austin and such can just KMA!

i keep hearing about this book from so many people that it is just going to have to be next on my list. It is called "Cutting For Stone". I've never heard of this author but people can't stop raving about how rich the characters are and how it's one of those books that you just don't want to end. Has anyone else read this??
I have started to read The Lost City of Z by David Grann. It is based upon the explorer, Percy Fawcett, who in the 1920s launched his final expedition into the Amazon in search of a lost city that was rumored to be an ancient kingdom rich in culture and gold. Fawcett disappeared during that trip with himself, his son, and others in his expedition. This book traces Fawcett's quest through a reporter, who years later is seeking to retrace Fawcett's steps and uncover the mystery of his disappearance and whether the lost city exists. This book interests me because it is about the exploration and adventure, and our relationship with the natural world.

Where The God of Love Hangs Out, a collection of short stoties by Amy Bloom. I love the title! The New York Times describes it as having an upbeat, sassy tone and Amy Bloom is a psychotherapist and her characters are always juicy.

Nancy Drew, The Secret of the Old Clock. My 7 year old daughter and I curl up in her bed each night and read these timeless books. I'm terrified she will grow out of our evening snuggle and book time so for now I read only what she wants to read with me because this will pass too soon.
